European GP Post Race

Wasn't that an incredible race with so many turn of events?

I love it when it rains in a Formula 1 race... it is the great equalizer, as we saw when the Spyker led for a few laps! I liked seeing all those cars slide into the gravel trap at turn 1, turning it into a parking lot! Liuzzi narrowly missed the safety car and ended up bumping the crane!

It's amazing how Hamilton kept his engine running and was able to rejoin the race after being lifted out of the gravel trap. I'm not familiar with that part of the rules; I didn't know you could rejoin as long as your engine is still ok... and why was he able to regain a lap? It didn't matter anyway, as he still finished out of the points positions.

I have a feeling Raikkonen could have won the race, if he didn't have mechanical problems. I think he could have leapfrogged both Alonso and Massa. Speaking of Alonso and Massa, that was a good battle that they had in the final part of the race in the semi-wet track! As they were headed toward the podium, I thought that there would be some punches thrown, as Massa seemed very angry about the whole thing. Alonso kept his cool and publicly apologized during the press conference. Because of that, there was nothing Massa could do but keep his temper down as well. Besides, I think Alonso made a good, clean pass. That is what Formula 1 is all about!

Today, we just learned that McLaren has been reprimanded for having Ferrari documents but they will not be punished as there was not enough evidence to prove that they used the documents. I hope that this is the end of the story... I would like the battle to only be on the racetrack. Moments like this tarnish the sport, and with so many other sports having controversy (NBA with their referees, NFL with the Vick fiasco, Tour de France, PGA, and MLB with drug issues), it does not look good for anyone.

Let's hope it rains in Hungary like it did last year!

La Vita e Bella!
